GENERAL POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Grading Policy

    Tests-40%

     Quizzes/Projects-30%

     Classwork/Folders-20%

     Homework/Class Participation/Preparedness-10%

    

Class Rules

  1. Be on time to class!
  2. Respect others!
  3. Raise your hand to speak!
  4. Be prepared everyday! (Pencil, notebook, folder, textbook, agenda, assignments, etc.)

If students do not follow class rules they will be given a verbal warning, they will be spoken to privately, and receive a phone call home and/or a detention for the following day if necessary.

***Some areas (fighting, cursing, threats, etc.) will be given directly to administration to be dealt with on an individual basis.

Materials

1.     One folder with fasteners in the middle to use in class
       2.  One EXTRA folder (used to keep at home to save chapter information)

3.   One 1.5 inch binder

4.    12 #2 pencils (NO PENS)

5.    Highlighter

6.    Texas Instruments TI 30 Multiview CALCULATOR---clearly labeled with your name on it!

Extra Help

    1. Before school help is available daily in room D162 during homeroom.  Students must check in with their homeroom teacher and get a pass.  It's the student's responsibility to see me when they are having difficulty with the material.
      • THIS IS NOT A TIME TO DO HOMEWORK THAT THEY FAILED TO COMPLETE THE NIGHT BEFORE.

    1. After school help is available daily in room D162 (Monday through Thursday 2:15-2:30).  Students can go home on the late bus or a parent/guardian can pick them up at 2:30.  At 2:30, students will be escorted to the late bus room to be supervised until the late bus arrives.  Please give me at least 24 hours notice so I can make arrangements at home.

***SCHEDULES PERMITTING, EXTRA HELP MAY BE PROVIDED DURING LUNCH PERIODS***

Agenda/Website

Students are instructed to write their homework in their agenda daily.  Please have your child check my school webpage if they are not sure what the homework is for the night.   PARENTS/GUARDIANS, PLEASE MONITOR AND SIGN YOUR CHILD'S AGENDA NIGHTLY!  You may find important messages from me!
 

Homework Policy

  1. Homework is a good way to practice and reinforce material taught in school.  Homework will be assigned 3-4 days a week. 
  2. Regular homework will NOT be accepted late.  Graded assignments must be done completely, according to directions, and on time in order to receive full credit.   

Missed Work Policy
  1. It is the student's responsibility to get all missed work due to illness, field trips, etc.
  2. When the student is absent, they are encouraged to complete their missed assignments and return it the next day.  Students are required to turn in work within 2 days of their absence(s).  Special circumstances need to be discussed with the teacher or else zeroes will be issued for missed work not returned within 2 days.
  3. Test/Quizzes are to be made up the next day unless the student was absent the day the test/quiz was announced. 

Test/Quizzes

  • All tests/quizzes MAY be signed and returned the NEXT DAY in order for the student to earn 2 extra credit points towards their test/quiz grade.

Textbook: Glencoe Mathematics Applications and Concepts, Course 1 (available online)

  • STUDENTS MUST SHOW ALL THEIR WORK IN ORDER TO GET FULL CREDIT ON ALL ASSIGNMENTS!
  • Notes and folders will be used as study guides.  Students are encouraged to take accurate notes!
