Our new Science Curriculum will now incorporate three-dimensional learning, which is a blend of the content, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts as modeled by the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).  For more information go to the parents resource page on the NGSS website.
http://www.nextgenscience.org/parents Content:

  • Unit 1: Human Impact (environmental science)

  • Unit 2: History of the Earth (Earth science)

  • Unit 3: Natural Selection and Adaptation (life science)

  • Unit 4: Motion and Forces (physical science)

  • Unit 5: Energy (physical science)

Science and Engineering Practices:

  • Asking questions (for science) and defining problems (for engineering)

  • Developing and using models

  • Planning and carrying out investigations

  • Analyzing and interpreting data

  • Using mathematics and computational thinking

  • Constructing explanations (for science) and designing solutions (for engineering)

  • Engaging in argument from evidence

  • Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information

Crosscutting Concepts:

  • Patterns

  • Cause and effect

  • Scale

  • Systems

  • Energy and matter

  • Structure and function

  • Stability and change
